Extended-length dry containers

45ft Shipping Containers for Sale

A 45ft High Cube gives you a longer enclosed space for inventory, project materials or a planned fit-out. The 8ft-wide dry model shown here is nominally 45 ft long and 9 ft 6 in high. Compare the extra length with your loading routine and delivery site, then confirm the actual model, condition and delivered total.

01 / YOUR BUYING DECISION

Choose the extra length for a specific reason

Start with what the longer space lets you do. A larger box is useful when it improves your layout and can reach the property.

Ribbed 40ft High Cube, 45ft High Cube and 53ft domestic containers at one exterior scale, with an enlarged width detail showing approximately 8ft versus 8ft 6in.
The three exterior illustrations share one scale; the width detail is enlarged. This 53ft domestic model is nominally 6 inches wider. Door swing and delivery space are additional.

45ft High Cube, 8ft-wide dry model

Consider the longer body for a continuous storage row, longer packaged items or a layout that needs more length. The example has a steel roof and cargo doors at one end. High Cube height does not make the body wider.

40ft High Cube comparison

A 40ft High Cube has the same nominal 8 ft width and 9 ft 6 in height, with a shorter 40ft body. Compare actual interior measurements, nearby inventory and transport quotes before paying for length your layout will not use.

Pallet-wide or another 45ft model

Pallet-wide identifies a different width configuration. Ask for its actual body and door dimensions, intended pallet layout and transport acceptance. A 45ft listing alone does not establish its width or height.

Specify dry storage or freight use when requesting the box. Refrigeration and a finished office involve additional equipment and a different specification.

02 / YOUR BUYING DECISION

Plan the layout around end access

Think about the items you will retrieve each day as well as the total amount you want to store.

Inventory and project materials

Sketch shelving and an aisle before selecting the length. Keep frequently used stock near the doors, and plan how long packages will turn, slide or travel into the rear of the box.

A workspace inside a longer shell

A dry box is the starting shell for a workspace. Insulation, wall finishes, partitions and mechanical equipment reduce usable space; entry, ventilation, utilities and local building requirements need their own design.

Plan a container office ↗

Equipment with service access

Allow for maintenance access, airflow, equipment removal and any floor or wall alterations. The longer shell does not establish that a particular equipment layout is suitable.

If end-only access would leave stock hard to reach, compare a side-opening layout before committing to the extra length. Side-opening models have their own sizes and opening dimensions.

Separate the body, interior and door measurements

This reference describes one 8ft-wide 45ft High Cube dry model with two cargo door leaves at one end. Its measurements and published ratings are nominal, with manufacturing variation. Confirm the unit offered before ordering.

One model example. The floor plan and enlarged end detail use separate scales. Interior room and cargo opening are separate; confirm the offered unit.

The end opening is lower than the interior ceiling. Check packed dimensions and the handling route using the actual opening, including any ramp or equipment needed to move the item.

Cubic volume is not a pallet count or a packing plan. Shelving, aisles and packaging consume space. The published weight ratings do not approve a particular load, lift or road movement: verify the actual plate, floor loading and carrier limits.

04 / YOUR BUYING DECISION

Match condition to storage or freight use

Condition describes the unit you are buying. The inspection and documentation you need also depend on how you will use it.

Used for storage

Ask for current photos of the roof, underside, floor, doors and seals, plus a list of repairs. A wind-and-watertight description addresses storage condition; confirm its written scope and inspect for leaks and door operation.

Cargo-worthy for a planned shipment

Check the actual unit's plate and examination status, the inspection documents included in the sale and the intended carrier's acceptance of 45ft equipment on your route. Ask whether a survey or recertification is a separate charge.

New / one-trip or refurbished

Request the unit's history and current photos. One-trip describes prior use and can still include handling marks; refurbished describes work performed. Ask which repairs, coatings, door parts and other features are included.

An as-is offer needs a written defect list and a repair allowance before comparison. Do not treat a condition label, fresh paint or nominal container size as proof that the unit is ready for your intended use.

05 / YOUR BUYING DECISION

Have the delivery operator review the full approach

The nominal 45ft footprint is only part of the site plan. The truck, trailer and unloading method need room to approach, maneuver, place the box and leave.

  • Provide the street address, destination ZIP and photos of the approach, entrance, turns and placement area.
  • Flag overhead wires, branches, gates, slopes, soft ground and any access restriction. Ask the operator to confirm vehicle and unloading clearances for this site.
  • Agree on the final door direction and leave space for opening both door leaves, routine loading and maintenance.
  • Confirm a firm, level placement area and the supports or foundations needed for the planned use. Check local placement and building requirements before committing.
  • Specify whether the movement is empty or loaded. Confirm unloading equipment, lifting arrangements, placement scope and any return or waiting charges in writing.

For onward freight, confirm the intended truck, rail or ocean service accepts the exact 45ft model on the planned route. A model's published gross weight is separate from the vehicle and route limits.

06 / YOUR BUYING DECISION

Compare the complete 45ft budget

Use a quote for the requested 45ft configuration, condition and destination. A 40ft price or an unqualified starting price will not establish the delivered cost of this box.

Cost itemWhat to have confirmed
Container purchaseExact model, condition, quantity and included features
TransportOrigin, destination address and ZIP, vehicle and movement scope
Unloading and placementEquipment, labor, placement location and access limitations
Inspection and paperworkIncluded documents and any separate survey or examination charge
Preparation or modificationsSite work, repairs and the proposed fit-out
Taxes and other chargesTax treatment, waiting, storage and any additional fees

Compare offers with the same inclusions and condition. A longer box may save a separate storage purchase for your layout, but it can also change the delivery arrangement; ask for both 40ft High Cube and 45ft High Cube totals when either would meet the need.

07 / YOUR BUYING DECISION

Describe the box and the site in one request

A clear request makes the offered unit and the delivery scope easier to compare.

  • State 45ft High Cube dry, the requested body width and door arrangement, quantity and preferred condition.
  • Describe storage, freight or a planned fit-out. Include the largest packed item, handling equipment and any layout drawing.
  • Give the destination ZIP and actual address, planned door direction and site-access photos.
  • Ask for the offered unit's photos, model-specific dimensions, plate details and included inspection documents.
  • Request separate purchase, transport, unloading, placement and tax details, with availability and timing confirmed for that origin and destination.

If width, height or condition is undecided, describe the layout you need and ask for the exact model before comparing totals.

Buying questions

Does 45ft mean High Cube?

Length and height are separate specifications. The dry reference on this page is a 45ft High Cube with a nominal 9 ft 6 in exterior height. Ask for the exact height and model if an offer is labeled only 45ft; do not assume another height configuration is available.

Is a pallet-wide 45ft container the same as the 8ft-wide example?

No. Treat pallet-wide as a separate width configuration and request its dimensions and transport requirements. The 8ft-wide example's interior, door and capacity figures should not be used for that model.

How many pallets can I put in a 45ft High Cube?

Start with the pallet dimensions, packed height and weight, then draw the layout using the offered unit's clear interior and doorway. Allow for handling and retrieval. The published cubic volume does not establish a pallet count or prove the load is acceptable.

Can I send a used 45ft container overseas?

Confirm the intended carrier and route accept that exact 45ft model, then verify the unit's plate, examination status and required inspection documentation. A used or wind-and-watertight label alone does not establish acceptance. Ask whether the necessary survey and documents are included.

Can a 45ft container be delivered to the same spot as a 40ft?

Have the operator review the approach and unloading arrangement for the longer unit. The placement spot, truck access, turns, overhead obstacles and door direction all matter. A successful 40ft delivery does not establish the clearance for a 45ft movement.
